How VariTec Helped Unichem Pharmaceuticals Achieve 100% DSCSA Compliance and Reclaim Critical Time?

What specific DSCSA or serialization challenge(s) were you facing prior to our engagement?

We were struggling with the workload of customer setups/onboardings and testing, as well as the looming challenge of exceptions handling. We found ourselves scrambling on the inbound and outbound side of things when something would go wrong. The main challenge would be the time it would take to problem solve what went wrong and how to fix it.

How did our solution and support help address your compliance or operational goals?

The support from Varitec has been above and beyond expectations. We have 2 representatives handling all things DSCSA with knowledgeable backup support and other contacts in case of emergency. The Varitec team has shown a broad and detailed knowledge of the process and how to handle anything that has been thrown our way. They even have assisted us in troubleshooting with our CMO's to get to the root of some ongoing issues. Their complete and extensive knowledge of the process has made it easy to work through the issues we have faced.

What measurable improvements or efficiencies have you seen as a result?

We have seen our customer DSCSA scorecards skyrocket to 100% with Varitec managing the process. Any time a scorecard comes back that is not 100%, they analyze all of the details to find out why. Almost every time we get a scorecard under 100% we find that it is an issue with our customers reporting and they are able to confirm that they have already received proper data. There are some immeasurable advantages as well, like time and stress. The Varitec Team knows exactly what they need to do and how they are going to do it and they require little intervention. This has opened up hours and hours of time per week for the rest of the Unichem team to focus elsewhere.

What aspects of working with our team stood out—whether technically, strategically, or relationally?

The multiple contacts with expert knowledge on the subject matter. The ability to work and integrate with different aspects of our company like interacting with our CMO's and downstream customers. The quick implementation of new processes- as I mentioned, they know what they need to do and exactly how to do it. There are never any reactions, everything has felt like it has been handled proactively.

Would you recommend our services to other pharmaceutical manufacturers or supply chain partners? Why?

I would definitely recommend Varitec to anyone who asked. For all of the technical reasons listed above, but also they are a great group of people to work with. They are easy to get along with and easy to manage. This was one of the best decisions Unichem has made since I have been here for almost 9 years.
